What "Handcrafted" Actually Means
"Handcrafted" is one of the most overused words in luxury.
In our industry, it's often used as a marketing term.
For us, it's simply how we work.
Since 1999, Arihant Collection has been producing handwoven cashmere home textiles from our workshop in Kathmandu. Every throw, blanket, bed runner, cushion cover, and coverlet begins with yarn selection, moves through dyeing and weaving, and is finished by hand before leaving our workshop.
One thing I've learned while working in this business is that handcrafted doesn't mean unstructured.
Behind every custom project is a process:
• Selecting the right fiber and ply construction
• Matching colors to a designer's palette
• Choosing the appropriate weave structure
• Sampling and approvals
• Production and quality control
The craftsmanship happens on the loom.
The consistency comes from the systems behind it.
Over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing more about how we approach cashmere manufacturing, custom development, color matching, weaving, and working with interior designers and hospitality projects around the world.
Thanks for following along.
